New alliance to drive sustainability across the healthcare industry

BioHygiene, a leading brand of biotech cleaning solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Countrywide Healthcare, a long-standing specialist supplier to the care sector.

With concerns about sustainability – particularly climate change – now at the top of the World’s agenda, the demand for renewable, sustainable products has never been higher. The impact of UN initiatives and social awareness campaigns is pressuring businesses to develop environmental solutions. Companies now recognise the critical need to assess their environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance to ensure they meet the changing demands of customers.

Through the new partnership, BioHygiene and Countrywide Healthcare aim to help businesses within the healthcare industry transition from traditional chemical cleaning products toward environmental alternatives. The alliance brings together specialist environmental biotechnology, R&D capabilities and manufacturing with long-standing care home experience to achieve the following benefits to the industry:

Improved cleaning performance: Used in industrial cleaning settings, Biotechnology utilises bacteria in conjunction with eco-surfactants and naturally-derived organic ingredients for the quick and easy removal of dirt, grease, grime and odours. Specialist bacteria species and strains degrade specific organic matter, including that which might be left behind after cleaning, helping to reduce subsequent cleaning time and providing long-lasting odour control.

BioHygiene Sanitiser range kills bacteria quickly, killing to EN1276 in 30 seconds and EN14476 in 15 seconds. It is approved to EN13697 and EN14476 for enveloped viruses including coronavirus 2019 n-CoV/SARS-CoV-2.

User Safety: Knowing products don’t harm employees, residents, and visitors is a top priority within the care sector. The natural ingredients in BioHygiene products mean they carry a low hazardous classification and, once diluted, are non-hazardous to users and aquatic life - a welcoming assurance for care homes, their employees, residents and their families.

Environmental performance: BioHygiene formulates its products with sustainable, naturally-derived ingredients with favourable eco profiles. The high dilution rates and biotechnology performance enables less product needed for each clean. Less product means fewer deliveries, leading to a decrease in CO2 emissions plus less plastic waste. PCR packaging and FSC cardboard come as standard, further reducing environmental pollution and helping the care industry reduce its impact on the planet.

Jeremy Gilson, Owner/Director at Countrywide Healthcare said:

“We’re proud to be joining forces with BioHygiene. This partnership allows us to lead the way in bringing highly effective sustainable products to the care sector. With up to 30% of home expenditure on cleaning products alone, the impact on the environment is huge. We can work together with our customers to seamlessly transition them to this cost-effective range of naturally derived high-performance alternatives - all within budget.”

Championing the industry

In addition to supplying cleaning solutions, BioHygiene will work closely with Countrywide Healthcare to deliver unique content and insight to its customers to help raise awareness of local and global environmental issues and guide businesses towards more sustainable operations.

Countrywide will also leverage BioHygiene’s specialist technical knowledge and database to calculate the estimated financial savings, plastic waste reduction, and carbon reduction – and offer this data to customers to help them make informed decisions and reach their environmental targets.

Erum Ahmed, Sales Director for BioHygiene, said:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Countrywide Healthcare. At BioHygiene, we aim to reduce the impact of human activity on the planet and help businesses become sustainable long-term. Working with Countrywide Healthcare will enable us to make true environmental change across the care sector.”
